धीरःdhīraḥsteady, wise
तुल्यनिन्दात्मसंस्तुतिःtulya-nindā-ātma-saṃstutiḥequal in blame and praise of himself

Explanation

He is the same in pain and pleasure, rests in his own self, regards a clod of earth, a stone and gold as equal, is even towards the pleasant and unpleasant, is steady, and stays the same whether blamed or praised.

Svastha, which in everyday Hindi means healthy, literally means established in oneself. Such a person's balance does not depend on outside conditions. Commentators note that seeing gold and stone as equal does not mean failing to tell them apart, but not being moved by greed for one or contempt for the other. Similar lists appear in chapters 6 and 12, showing that equanimity is the common mark of every ideal in the Gita.
