This verse is a short litany of names that has been widely used in prayer. Each word describes a relation between God and the soul. Sharana, refuge, and suhrit, the friend who wishes well without expecting return, are especially precious in bhakti traditions; Krishna calls himself the friend of all beings again in 5.29. Shankara explains nidhana as the place where all things rest during dissolution. Ramanuja stresses that the Lord is the goal and refuge for everyone, whatever their state. The seed image recurs in 7.10 and 10.39.

भावार्थ
