Explanation

Alas, what a great sin we have resolved to commit, that out of greed for the pleasures of a kingdom we are ready to kill our own people!

Arjuna now turns the charge of greed on himself. Earlier he said the Kauravas were blinded by greed (1.38); here he fears the Pandavas are no better. This is unfair to their cause, since they had asked for as little as five villages before the war. But grief often makes us judge ourselves harshly and lose sight of the real reasons behind our actions.

Living it today

Guilt can distort as much as greed. Recall the real reasons behind your choices before condemning yourself.
