Explanation

Now Duryodhana turns to his own side: But know also, O best of the twice-born, the most distinguished among us, the leaders of my army. I name them for your information.

Calling Drona 'best of the twice-born' (dvijottama) honours him as a brahmin, but some commentators hear a quiet reminder too: a brahmin teacher fighting as a warrior must prove his loyalty. The phrase 'for your information' is almost unnecessary, since Drona knows these men well; it shows Duryodhana talking to steady his own nerves as much as to inform his teacher.

Living it today

Sometimes we explain things others already know just to calm ourselves. Notice when talking is really a way of managing anxiety.
