Explanation
Krishna describes his devotees: their minds rest on him and their lives are given to him. They enlighten one another, constantly speak of him, and find contentment and joy in this. Devotion here is not lonely; it is a shared life of conversation, mutual encouragement and delight.
This is the second of the four verses (10.8 to 10.11) that some traditions treat as the heart of the Gita. Shankara glosses mad-gata-prāṇāḥ as those whose senses and life-breath are directed to the Lord. Ramanuja emphasises that such devotees cannot sustain themselves without him, and that speaking of his qualities is their nourishment. Commentators often distinguish tuṣyanti, the contentment of having enough, from ramanti, the active joy of loving. The verse is widely quoted in praise of satsang, the company of fellow seekers.
