Explanation

That Brahman has hands and feet everywhere, eyes, heads and faces everywhere, and ears everywhere in the world. It abides pervading everything. Every hand, eye and ear in the universe works through its presence, so in a sense they are all its own.

The line closely echoes the Shvetashvatara Upanishad. Having said Brahman is beyond description, Krishna now describes it through the bodies of all beings: every hand that works and every eye that sees functions by its presence. Shankara explains that these limbs are attributed to Brahman only through its limiting adjuncts, to show that it exists, before denying them in the next verse. Ramanuja reads it as the Lord's real power to act and perceive everywhere.

Living it today

Every pair of hands you meet can be seen as the hands of the one reality. That changes how you treat people at work and at home.
