Explanation
Hear once more my supreme word, the most secret of all. Because you are dearly loved by me, I will tell you what is for your good. Krishna pauses before the final teaching, making clear that what follows is given out of affection, for Arjuna's welfare.
Krishna has called his teaching secret (guhya) and more secret (guhyatara, 18.63); now he announces the most secret of all, which he gives in the next two verses (18.65-66). The reason he gives is love, not Arjuna's merit. Ramanuja and later Vaishnava teachers lay great weight on this personal tone, seeing the teaching as a gift of grace. Shankara treats the supreme word as the summary that follows, establishing devotion and surrender as the culmination of the whole Gita.
