Explanation

When a person keeps dwelling on objects of the senses, attachment to them arises. From attachment desire is born, and from desire — when it is blocked — comes anger.

Verses 2.62–63 form a famous chain showing how a passing thought can lead to ruin. The first link is simply "dwelling on" — thinking about something again and again. That is why the Gita stresses guarding the mind early, before attachment hardens into craving.
