Explanation
What is night for all beings, the self-controlled person is awake to; and that in which all beings are awake is night for the sage who sees.
The sage is "awake" to the Self, which ordinary people overlook as if it were night; and the endless chase of desires that keeps the world busy is, for the sage, as uninteresting as night. Their values are reversed.
