Explanation

Having reached the worlds of those who have done good deeds and lived there for countless years, the one who fell from yoga is born again in the home of people who are pure and prosperous. The good he did is not lost; it gives him a fresh start.

Krishna now explains what happens to the unfinished seeker. First comes a long stay in higher worlds as the fruit of merit, then a fresh birth in favourable conditions. 'Śuci' means pure in conduct; 'śrīmat' means prosperous or graced with good fortune. Such a home gives both good values and freedom from want, so the person can resume the journey. Shankara and others take this verse as describing the seeker whose desires were not yet fully exhausted, in contrast with the more advanced seeker of the next verse.
