Explanation

For one who has conquered the mind, the mind is a friend; but for one who has not, that very mind behaves like an enemy.

Continuing 6.5, Krishna explains what makes the mind friend or foe: mastery. An undisciplined mind pulls us towards habits we know harm us; a trained mind supports our highest aims. Chapter 6 goes on to teach meditation as the way to this mastery.

Living it today

Build one good habit at a time. Each small win turns the mind a little more into your friend.
