About

Jyotisha, the science of time and the heavens, is one of the six Vedangas: it was developed to time Vedic rituals by the movements of the Sun and Moon. The daily Panchang on our home page shows the tithi, nakshatra, yoga and karana for your city, with sunrise, sunset, the auspicious muhurats and Rahu Kaal; these pages explain each of them, and the months, eras and seasons of the Hindu year.

They are written for understanding, not prediction. For personal horoscopes and for choosing a muhurat for a wedding or other major event, consult a learned jyotishi or your family priest.
