The day
- Date: 4 October 2003
- Place: Nagpur
- Address by: K. S. Sudarshan
What the address covered
According to a PTI report in The Tribune, Sudarshan used his Vijayadashami address to attack the National Human Rights Commission for taking the Gujarat Best Bakery case to the Supreme Court after the accused were acquitted when witnesses turned hostile. He asked why the NHRC had not acted similarly over the 1993 Radhabai Chawl killings in Mumbai, where the victims were Hindus, or over acquittals in the 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases, and suggested the commission showed excessive concern for Muslims. He also criticised Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh for urging Dalits to leave the Hindu fold.
As reported
Is it because those killed in the Radhabai Chawl episode were all Hindus?
