Explanation
Then Arjuna, overwhelmed with wonder and with his hair standing on end, bowed his head to the Lord and, with palms joined, began to speak. The sight moves him to reverence and prayer. His fear and wonder turn at once into worship and words of praise.
Sanjaya describes the bodily signs of deep awe: hair standing on end and spontaneous bowing. Arjuna, the bold warrior Dhananjaya, 'winner of wealth', now stands as a humble devotee. Commentators see this as the natural response of one who truly perceives the Divine; the knowledge of earlier chapters becomes worship. What follows from verse 15 onward is Arjuna's great hymn, one of the most poetic passages in the Gita.
Living it today
Let wonder lead you to gratitude; a moment of real awe is a good moment to bow, inwardly or outwardly.
