Explanation
The Lord said: Arjuna, because I am pleased with you, I have shown you, by my own yogic power, this supreme form — radiant, universal, endless and primal — which no one but you has ever seen before. Krishna explains that the vision was an act of grace.
Krishna stresses that the vision came from his own pleasure (prasada) and power, not from Arjuna's effort. 'No one but you has seen it' has puzzled readers, since the epic elsewhere describes Krishna showing a cosmic form at the Kaurava court. Commentators explain that this particular form, in this fullness, was revealed to Arjuna alone. The emphasis on grace prepares for the teaching of the closing verses: the Divine is reached through love, which draws his favour.
