Explanation
The doer who is free from attachment, does not keep talking about himself, is full of steady resolve and energy, and stays unshaken in success or failure, is called sattvic. Such a person works with zeal but without ego, and with inner balance whatever the result.
Krishna now describes the three kinds of doer. Notably, the sattvic doer is not passive: dhṛti and utsāha, perseverance and enthusiasm, are named as essential. Shankara and Ramanuja both stress equanimity in success and failure, echoing 2.48. Tilak cited this verse to show that the Gita's ideal is an energetic worker, while Aurobindo saw in it the temper of one who acts as an instrument of the Divine.
