Explanation
Sanjaya said: hearing these words of Keshava, the crowned Arjuna, trembling, with palms joined, saluted Krishna and, bowing low and full of fear, spoke to him again in a choked voice. Arjuna is shaken but turns to praise once more.
Sanjaya briefly takes up the narration between Krishna's command and Arjuna's second hymn. Kiriti, 'the crowned one', refers to the crown Indra gave Arjuna. The details, trembling, choked voice, repeated bowing, show fear mixed with devotion. Some commentators point out that Sanjaya hopes the blind king, hearing that victory is assured for the Pandavas, might still seek peace; Dhritarashtra does not take the hint. What follows (11.36 to 11.46) is one of the great devotional prayers of the Gita.
