Explanation
And whoever studies this sacred dialogue of ours worships me through the sacrifice of knowledge — such is my conviction. Even without teaching others, the person who reads and reflects on the Gita with care offers a worship that Krishna himself accepts.
Even those who do not teach are blessed: careful study is itself worship. The idea of jñāna-yajña, the sacrifice of knowledge, was praised in 4.33 as higher than material offerings. Shankara notes that study alone, understood as an offering, is counted as worship. Ramanuja reads it as reflecting on the dialogue with understanding. The verse is behind the traditional practice of daily Gita svādhyāya, reading a chapter or a few verses each day.
Living it today
Reading a few Gita verses each day, slowly and thoughtfully, is itself a form of worship.
