Explanation

Arjuna says: My delusion is destroyed and I have regained my true awareness by your grace, O Achyuta. I stand firm, my doubts gone. I will do as you say. The despairing warrior of chapter 1 now speaks with clarity, steadiness and resolve.

These are Arjuna's last words in the Gita, and they answer his confusion in 1.28-47 and his plea in 2.7. Smṛti, memory, means recovering knowledge of his real self and his duty; Shankara reads it as the recollection of the true nature of the self. Ramanuja reads it as right understanding of the self, the Lord and duty. Commentators note that Arjuna does not say 'I will fight' but 'I will do your word', which Gandhi and others read as action freely chosen after understanding, not blind obedience.
