Explanation
I am not revealed to everyone, being veiled by my yoga-maya. This deluded world does not know me, the unborn and imperishable. The Divine remains hidden by its own power, and only those prepared can see through it. What is hidden is not absent.
Yoga-maya is the Lord's own power by which he both appears and remains hidden. Shankara explains it as the combination of the gunas that veils the Lord's true nature. Ramanuja reads it as the Lord's ability to appear in a human form while retaining his divine nature, which deceives those who lack devotion. The verse links to 7.24 and explains why the unwise do not recognise Krishna's divinity.
Living it today
If the sacred seems absent, it may be hidden rather than gone; patience and sincerity tend to reveal what hurry overlooks.
