The day
- Date: 9 October 1951 — the calendar date of Vijayadashami; our sources do not record the exact day of the gathering
- Place: Nagpur
- Address by: M. S. Golwalkar
What the address covered
Speaking in the run-up to India's first general election, Golwalkar (as summarised in Shri Guruji Samagra) rejected the charge that the RSS was 'communal' and challenged critics to define the word. He argued that parties choosing candidates by minority community were the real communalists. He regretted what he called a defeatist mood in the country. He described great-power talk of world peace as a cover for domination, and urged a confident, victory-minded outlook rooted in Indian culture.
Context
Election-season speech answering the 'communal' charge.
