About Lakshmi
The Puranas tell how she rose from the ocean of milk when the devas and asuras churned it, seated on a lotus, and chose Vishnu as her lord. She accompanies him in each avatar: as Sita with Rama and as Rukmini with Krishna.
Her eight forms, the Ashta Lakshmi, cover wealth, grain, courage, children, victory, knowledge and more. Diwali night is her greatest festival, and many homes worship her every Friday.
