About Hanuman
In the Ramayana he leaps across the ocean to Lanka, finds Sita in the Ashoka grove, burns the city and carries the Sanjivani mountain to revive Lakshmana. The Sundar Kand, which tells this part of the story, is recited in homes and temples every Tuesday and Saturday.
He is a chiranjeevi, one of the immortals, and is believed to be present wherever the Ramayana is told. The Hanuman Chalisa of Tulsidas is the most widely chanted Hindu prayer of all.

Why is sindoor offered to Hanuman?
A popular story tells that Hanuman saw Sita applying sindoor for Rama's long life and covered his whole body in it to please Rama. Sindoor mixed with oil (chola) is offered to him to this day.
Can women read the Hanuman Chalisa?
