Sadhana FAQs

Simple answers for beginners and families.

What is daily sadhana?

Sadhana means steady spiritual practice. A simple daily sadhana weaves short prayers into ordinary moments — waking, bathing, sunrise, meals, study, lighting the evening lamp and going to sleep — so that the whole day is lived with remembrance of the Divine.

Which shloka should I recite first thing in the morning?

Traditionally the day begins with Karagre Vasate Lakshmi while looking at your palms, followed by Samudra Vasane Devi before your feet touch the ground.

Do I need initiation to recite these prayers?

No. The daily shlokas, Bhojan Mantra, Prarthana and Surya Namaskar mantras are recited freely by people of all ages. Sincerity matters more than perfect pronunciation; the transliteration on each page will help you learn.

How long does a daily sadhana take?

The core prayers take only a few minutes spread across the day. Add Surya Namaskar (about 10 minutes) and a chalisa or stotra when you have more time.

Before you reach for your phone, look at your palms and recite one line. That is how a lifetime of sadhana begins.
