What Jai Jai Shri Shanidev — Shani Aarti means
The Shani aarti praises Shani Dev as "bhaktan hitkari" — the one who does good to his devotees. It describes him as the son of Surya and Chhaya, dark-bodied with a sidelong gaze, four-armed, dressed in blue, crowned and garlanded with pearls.
The third verse lists the offerings tradition holds dear to him — iron, sesame, mustard oil and black gram (urad) — which are still given at Shani temples every Saturday. The last verse reminds us that gods, demons and sages alike remember Shani; the aarti asks for his refuge rather than fearing him.
