What Durga Saptashati Chapter 11 means
The gods praise the Goddess as Narayani in the hymn that includes "Sarvamangala mangalye shive sarvartha sadhike, sharanye tryambake gauri narayani namo'stu te" — one of the best-known verses in Hindu worship.
Pleased, she promises to return whenever evil troubles the world, and foretells her future forms: as Shakambhari who feeds the world with vegetables in a famine, as Bhima, as Bhramari and others.

A common Navratri plan: day 1 — chapter 1; day 2 — chapters 2–3; day 3 — chapter 4; day 4 — chapters 5–8; day 5 — chapters 9–10; day 6 — chapter 11; day 7 — chapters 12–13 (traditions differ). Others read all thirteen chapters in one sitting.
