    जगज्जालपालं चलत्कण्ठमालं
    शरच्चन्द्रभालं महादैत्यकालम् ।

    जो जगत् के जाल के पालक हैं, जिनके गले में माला झूलती है, जिनका ललाट शरद् के चन्द्रमा जैसा है, जो महादैत्यों के काल हैं; आकाश जैसे नीले शरीर वाले, जिनकी माया दुर्लंघ्य है, जो लक्ष्मी के साथी हैं — उन्हें मैं भजता हूँ, भजता हूँ।

    Protector of the web of the world, with a swaying garland at his throat, his forehead bright as the autumn moon, death to the great demons; his body blue as the sky, his maya hard to overcome, the companion of Lakshmi — I worship him, I worship him.

    जो सदा क्षीरसागर में निवास करते हैं, जिनकी हँसी झरते फूलों जैसी है, जिनमें जगत् बसा है, जो सौ सूर्यों जैसे प्रकाशमान हैं; गदा और चक्र धारण करने वाले, चमकते पीताम्बर वाले, सुन्दर मुस्कुराते मुख वाले — उन्हें मैं भजता हूँ, भजता हूँ।

    Who dwells forever in the ocean, whose smile is like blossoms falling, in whom the world rests, radiant as a hundred suns; who bears mace and discus, whose yellow robe gleams, whose lovely face is smiling — I worship him, I worship him.

    जो लक्ष्मी के कण्ठहार हैं, सब वेदों के सार हैं, जल में विहार करने वाले और पृथ्वी का भार हरने वाले हैं; चिदानन्दरूप, मनोहर स्वरूप वाले, अनेक रूप धारण करने वाले — उन्हें मैं भजता हूँ, भजता हूँ।

    The necklace at Lakshmi's throat, the essence of all the Vedas, who sports in the waters and removes the burden of the earth; whose nature is consciousness and bliss, whose form is captivating, who has taken many forms — I worship him, I worship him.

    trilokaikasetuṃ bhaje'haṃ bhaje'ham ||

    जो बुढ़ापे और जन्म से रहित हैं, परम आनन्द से परिपूर्ण हैं, समाधि में लीन हैं, सदा पुरातन होकर भी नित्य नवीन हैं; जगत् की उत्पत्ति के कारण, देवसेना के ध्वज, तीनों लोकों के एकमात्र सेतु — उन्हें मैं भजता हूँ, भजता हूँ।

    Free of old age and birth, full of supreme bliss, absorbed in deep meditation, ever ancient and ever new; the cause of the world's birth, the banner of the hosts of gods, the one bridge across the three worlds — I worship him, I worship him.

    जिनका गुणगान वेद करते हैं, जो पक्षीराज गरुड़ पर सवार होते हैं, जो मुक्ति के मूल कारण हैं, शत्रुओं का अभिमान हरते हैं; अपने भक्तों के अनुकूल, जगत्-रूपी वृक्ष के मूल, दुखियों की पीड़ा दूर करने वाले — उन्हें मैं भजता हूँ, भजता हूँ।

    Whose praises the Vedas sing, who rides Garuda, king of birds, the source of liberation, who humbles the pride of his enemies; kind to his devotees, the root of the tree of the world, who removes the pain of the suffering — I worship him, I worship him.

    जो सब देवताओं के स्वामी हैं, जिनके केश भौंरे जैसे काले हैं, यह जगत् जिनका एक छोटा-सा प्रतिबिम्ब है, जो हृदयाकाश में रहते हैं; सदा दिव्य शरीर वाले, सब इच्छाओं से मुक्त, सुन्दर वैकुण्ठ जिनका धाम है — उन्हें मैं भजता हूँ, भजता हूँ।

    Lord of all the gods, with hair dark as a bee, of whom the world is a small reflection, who dwells in the space of the heart; whose body is ever divine, free of all desire, whose home is the blessed Vaikuntha — I worship him, I worship him.

    mahāmbhodhitīraṃ bhaje'haṃ bhaje'ham ||

    जो देवताओं में सबसे बलवान, तीनों लोकों में श्रेष्ठ, गुरुओं में सबसे बड़े और अपने स्वरूप में स्थित हैं; युद्ध में सदा धीर, महावीरों के भी वीर, (संसार-रूपी) महासागर के किनारे — उन्हें मैं भजता हूँ, भजता हूँ।

    Mightiest among the gods, the best in the three worlds, greatest of teachers, established in his own true nature; ever steady in battle, the hero of great heroes, the shore of the great ocean (of worldly life) — I worship him, I worship him.

    रमावामभागं तलानग्रनागं
    कृताधीनयागं गतारागरागम् ।

    गुणौघैरतीतं भजेऽहं भजेऽहम् ॥

    जिनके वाम भाग में लक्ष्मी हैं और नीचे शेषनाग हैं, सब यज्ञ जिनके अधीन हैं, जो आसक्ति से रहित होकर भी प्रेममय हैं; महामुनि जिनका गुणगान करते हैं, देवता जिन्हें घेरे रहते हैं, जो सब गुणों से परे हैं — उन्हें मैं भजता हूँ, भजता हूँ।

    With Lakshmi at his left side and the serpent (Shesha) beneath him; to whom all sacrifices are offered, free of attachment yet full of love; sung by the great sages, surrounded by the gods, beyond all qualities — I worship him, I worship him.

  9. Phalashruti#

    इदं यस्तु नित्यं समाधाय चित्तं
    पठेदष्टकं कण्ठहारं मुरारेः ।
    स विष्णोर्विशोकं ध्रुवं याति लोकं
    जराजन्मशोकं पुनर्विन्दते नो ॥

    idaṃ yastu nityaṃ samādhāya cittaṃ
    paṭhedaṣṭakaṃ kaṇṭhahāraṃ murāreḥ |
    sa viṣṇorviśokaṃ dhruvaṃ yāti lokaṃ
    jarājanmaśokaṃ punarvindate no ||

    जो प्रतिदिन चित्त को एकाग्र करके मुरारि के कण्ठहार-रूपी इस अष्टक का पाठ करता है, वह निश्चय ही शोकरहित विष्णुलोक को जाता है और फिर कभी बुढ़ापे और जन्म का दुःख नहीं पाता।

    Whoever, with a collected mind, recites every day this ashtakam, a necklace for the throat of Murari, surely reaches Vishnu's world, free from sorrow, and never again knows the grief of old age and birth.
